En bouche ce vin exprime des notes de prune jaune juteuse/fraiche, de prune blanches pulpeuse/fraiche et plus légèrement de coing associées à des touches d’abricot frais, de pomme charnue, à une subtile pointe de kumquat, de sauge ainsi qu’à une très discrète pointe d’amande (en fond) et à une imperceptible pointe de romarin. Bonne longueur. Présence de très discrètes pointes d’amande mûre et de bosquet local sec sur la persistance.

A powerful yet refined expression, this wine opens with floral aromas of violets and lavender, leading into a pure core of black cherry, boysenberry, and a subtle hint of white tea. The 2022 Crozes-Hermitage Le Rouvre was vinified from fully destemmed, certified organic grapes. Meaty subtleties mingle with touches of cedar and black cherry on the complex aromatic profile. Engaging the palate with elevated flavor concentration and solid freshness, the savory 2022 requires at least two more years to show its full potential. This is a delicious Crozes from Yann Chave.

The 2022 Hermitage from Yann Chave has turned out beautifully, wafting from the glass with aromas ofspices, licorice, dark wild berries, mulberries and blueberries. Full-bodied, dense and concentrated,ample and seamless, it's suave and enveloping with a multidimensional core of fruit, supple tannins and along, mineral, racy and slightly chocolate-inflected finish. Matured in new large barrels fromTaransaud, it's a blend of two terroirs: Beaumes, with its loess soils, and Péléat, known for being oneof the warmest, sunniest spots on the hill of Hermitage

Crafted from old vines (65 years old) in the appellation's southern part, the 2022 Crozes-Hermitage LeRouvre exudes aromas of spices, licorice, dark berries and a lovely touch of oak. Medium to full-bodied, velvety and supple, it's clean and pure with a fleshy core of fruit, an enrobing palate and along, spicy and suave finish. Matured in a combination of used large barrels from Taransaud and SeguinMoreau, this wine is a gem worth seeking out, and it's poised to age gracefully over the next decade.

Another strong effort, the 2022 Crozes-Hermitage unfurls from the glass with aromas of dark wildberries, flowers, spices and mulberries mingled with lovely notes of violets. Medium to full-bodied,dense and fleshier than its 2023 counterpart, it's seamless with good depth at the core, velvety tanninsand a long, saline finish.

The 2022 Hermitage will be terrific, if not up with the finest from this estate. Darker currants, roasted meats, leather, and peppery spice notes all define the aromatics, and it's a big, broad-shouldered Hermitage with terrific mid-palate density, ripe tannins, and outstanding length.

The smaller production 2022 Crozes-Hermitage Le Rouvre is a selection of older vines from the Les Chassis region of Crozes. Not yet bottled, it has more cassis, violet, pepper, and graphite-driven aromatics and is medium to full-bodied on the palate, with fine tannins, nicely integrated acidity, and the density and depth to benefit from 3–4 years of bottle age and evolve nicely over the following decade.

Ripe stone fruits, honeyed tangerine, and spice-like characteristics all develop in the 2022 Crozes-Hermitage Blanc, and it hits the palate with medium-bodied richness, a bright, focused, yet nicely textured mouthfeel, and integrated acidity. It's well-made, clean, straight, and will shine on the dinner table over the coming 2–3 years.

Yann's 2022 Crozes-Hermitage has already been bottled, and it's a medium-bodied, polished, elegant, satisfying Crozes revealing terrific purity in its red and blue-tinged fruits as well as sappy herb, floral, and peppery nuances. This is classic, lively, old school, yet elegant Syrah all the way. It's going to evolve for 7–8 years or more.

Tasted blind. A rich and dense nose with dark fruits. A real sweetness to the fruit on the palate, blackcurrant, cassis and violets. The tannins are prominent but rounded and supple – this is a fruit-forward and rounded style that will provide plenty of pleasure in the short to medium term.

An amazing Crozes-Hermitage. Very complex nose with notes of candied bitter oranges, mulberries and hot dry earth. Serious concentration for this appellation, plus a stack of fine tannins that exactly balance the finely nuanced forest berries and citrus fruit. Super-long and powerful finish. Drink or hold.

Tasted blind. The nose is bright with lavender and dark fruits. Nice freshness and taut tannins with good energy and vibrancy. Not hugely complex but enjoyable, ripe and with good freshness.

An intense, powerful red, textured and layered, with such brightness at the center. Dark cherries, blueberries, violets, grilled meat, dried herbs, ashes and tar on the nose. Full-bodied with firm yet beautifully refined tannins. Structured and harmonious on the bramble, dried roses and lightly mouth-drying finish. From organically grown grapes. Try after 2028.

Wild strawberry and thyme notes make for a fairly light, perfumed style. Has some concentration of fruit, with more blackberry on the palate and cassis. Smooth tannins, well-balanced acidity and low alcohol, this is a charming and approachable style of Hermitage that can be enjoyed in its youth.

Suave, soft, ripe blackberry and blackcurrant. Supple and ripe tannin. Does have a good sense of balance and drinkability, plus a long finish. One of the better 2022 Crozes.

Touch of spritz on the palate accentuates the natural freshness of the wine, which has good acidity and energy to lift the ripe pear fruit. Balanced, drinkable and vibrant despite its generosity of body and fruit.

A finely calibrated version that offers high-toned elements of violet, plum and black currant alongside an iron-edged, chalky mineral backbone. Warm earth and humus notes fill in, with salty intensity and smoked bacon accents. Singed mesquite smoke wafts through the delicious finish, which shows good density. Drink now through 2032.

This streaming, fresh style offers a core of plum, licorice and apple wood flanked by smoked lard and juniper. Mesquite ash and salt build in density toward the finish, with layers of red plum, dried mineral and violet high tones. An elegant, restrained version, in good length and balance. A refined, lifted version, with gorgeous range to the floral aromatics and notes of singed bacon lard, plum and lavender. Ripe and round, offering warm stone and graphite elements. Displays salty, savory elegance as the sanguine intensity builds. Open and inviting, yet shows the energy to go the distance in the cellar. Drink now through 2033.

Vinified from certified organic grapes, the strait-laced 2023 Crozes-Hermitage checks in at 13% alcohol. Spice box, blackberry and cedar notes are all amplified here, complemented by a citric flicker of grapefruit. Medium-bodied and concentrated, the tasty 2023 hits the palate with lovely intensity and checks out with staying power on the precise finish

A blend of 70% Marsanne and 30% Roussanne from vines planted on clay, limestone soils at the northern and southern extremes of the appellation, the 2023 Crozes-Hermitage Blanc offers aromas of white flowers, pear, white peach, spices and spring blossoms. Medium to full-bodied, seamless and satiny, it's nicely enrobing with a charming, elegant profile enhanced by bright acids, culminating with a long, open-knit finish. The wine vinified and matured in stainless steel.

The 2023 Saint Joseph is beautiful, with a terrific sense of purity and finesse as well as some classic Saint Joseph minerality, lots of darker, almost blue fruits, medium body, ripe tannins, and a great finish. It's a pure, polished, and elegant Saint Joseph in the making.

Coming from the eastern side of the appellation, the 2023 Hermitage offers a gorgeous array of red, blue, and black fruits as well as bouquet garni, violets, and ample spicy, gamey nuances. It's medium to full-bodied, has a round, layered mouthfeel, sweet tannins, and a great finish. It's very much in the more supple, forward style of the vintage yet will evolve gracefully on its overall balance and purity.

Based on 70% Marsanne and 30% Roussanne, brought up in stainless steel and glass wine globes, the 2023 Crozes-Hermitage Domaine Blanc offers stone fruits, apple blossom, and spice, with bright acidity and a touch of minerality. Medium-bodied and focused, this fresh, wonderfully pure white is best enjoyed over the coming 4–5 years. Drink 2025–2030.

Not yet bottled and coming from older vines in the Les Chassis region of the appellation, the 2023 Crozes-Hermitage Le Rouvre brings another level of concentration and density, with beautiful plum, blueberry, peppery herbs, and exotic floral/incense-like aromatics. With medium to full-bodied richness, it’s nicely balanced, has ripe tannins, and a great finish. It's clearly an outstanding Crozes that will have well over a decade of overall longevity.

Made from 100% Syrah, the 2023 Crozes-Hermitage is a classic wine in the vintage with its upfront, perfumed, spicy style. Red, blue, and black fruits, peppery herbs, potpourri, and spice notes all shine, and it's medium-bodied, has a pure, layered mouthfeel, soft tannins, and outstanding length.

Spicy notes with a touch of vanilla oak. Palate juicy, spicy and almost too easy-going. Lighter weight and frame, and a little short. Seems to be using the oak to build weight. Not for the long haul. (JL)

So agile and driven, with a velvety texture. It’s attractive, with a savory and compact structured character. Plenty of verve and length. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold.

A bright, succulent and crunchy red with forest berries, warm spices, stone and hints of iron on the nose. Medium-bodied with fine tannins. Linear and focused, with saline texture. Plenty of character and drive, with a delicious, savory character and a long, fresh finish. Drink or hold.

Balsamic, slightly tangy notes on the nose. Enjoyably fresh and zesty style of Hermitage on the palate, if not a particularly concentrated or powerful one. The oak spice should integrate and provide further complexity in time, but wait until at least 2031. Vines of nearly 50 years of age grown organically on lieux-dits Les Beaumes and Péleat, matured in demi-muids with malolactic fermentation in barrel.

A fresh burst of melon, star fruit and dried apricot merges with a firming salt and mineral layer that supports the creamy, juicy palate. Dried herbs and grass play out on the succulent finish, which shows good length and energy. Marsanne and Roussanne. Drink now through 2028.

Currently this is very reductive, with strong sage and smoke aromas – they do dissipate with air however. It’s smooth on the palate, ripe and juicy, with lovely tannic finesse, good acidity and a long, smoky finish. It has power, but the alcohol is well balanced. Freshness, focus, ripeness and finesse. This is very good.

This has more weight and concentration than many 2023s, the oak is present but well integrated and helps to create structure and shape. Violets on the nose, blackberries on the palate, with a touch of liquorice.
